getting things done for our community

supporting community events & voluntary groups

campaigning on key issues

This includes:

1.         Delivering a new Emsworth GP Surgery building, providing residents with modern health facilities. Over 6 years my work included lobbying for £3.5million of funding, stopping the Victoria Cottage Hospital site’s sale, and chairing meetings to drive the project forward working with doctors, community representatives and NHS bodies.

2.         Stopping the closure of Emsworth Library by brokering a move to a new home inside Emsworth Community Centre. I opened the new Library.

3.         Successfully pressuring Southern Water to reduce discharges by investing £4.2 million in new stormwater storage tanks and publishing an action plan to end discharges. 

4.         Organising my annual Health & Wellbeing Fair at Emsworth Methodist Church, which helps residents access information about physical and mental health.

5.         Backing the Conservatives’ Triple Lock and Triple Lock Plus policies which guarantee State Pensions always rise – and are protected from Income Tax.

6.         Extending the £2 cap on single bus fares, making bus travel cheaper for Emsworth residents on services like the Coastliner 700.

7.         Successfully campaigning against the proposed closure of Emsworth Station’s ticket office.

8.         Launching my Tree Planting Challenge, supported by the Woodland Trust, to plant more trees locally. The Ems Valley Memorial Arboretum contributed to the project’s success, with over 150 new trees planted. 

9.         Boosting funding for Hampshire Police to roll-out a new Named Local Bobby Scheme, which means all Emsworth residents will have a named police officer covering their street, and access to their e-mail and mobile number.

10.       Reducing National Insurance tax for working people and the self-employed, putting £900 back into the pocket of the average Emsworth worker, whilst voting for reductions in VAT and business rates which help Emsworth’s small businesses.
