Queenie's Vintage Tearoom announces 'difficult decision' to close after four years due to crippling bills

After exploring all avenues, a
vintage tearoom has announced it is closing down after an
incredible four years.
Queenie’s Vintage Tearoom, at Emsworth train station,
has spent the best part of a year searching for different
ways to remain open amid crippling bills and a series of
vandalism.
After following her dream of
opening a tearoom, which doubles as a speakeasy in 2022, the
42-year-old was faced with such financial strain that she
was forced to sell her house in order to keep her business
running.

But despite making changes to the
tearoom’s offerings, the owner, Queenie Butler-Hoskins, has
taken to social media to announce she will be closing after
getting into debt.
She previously told The News that
the 20 per cent VAT bill was one of the main culprits, with
inconsistent footfall and rent also contributing to the
struggles.
On March 20, Queenie wrote on
Facebook: “To all my lovely customers, followers, and
supporters. It's with a heavy heart that I'm announcing the
closure of Queenie's Vintage Tearoom at Emsworth Railway
Station.
“After almost 4 incredible years in
this location, I've made the difficult decision to stop.
We've explored every option, but unfortunately, our debt to
HMRC has become unsustainable, and the Railway's rules have
made it impossible to continue.I want to thank each and
every one of you for your love and support over the years. I
know this news will be devastating for many.

“We'll be open today, this evening,
and tomorrow, so come visit us. We'll also be hosting our
booked events for the next 4-6 weeks, including Speakeasy
Fridays, Comedy Night, Book Club, and Decoupage & Sip.”
