Picture This at the Spring: Havant Borough Council's climate photography exhibition is free to see!
A unique series of pictures captured by keen
photographers will go on display in an exciting
new exhibition taking place at the Spring Arts
and Heritage Centre.
The free-to-see eye-catching photos are from a
recent competition run by Havant Borough Council
inviting keen photographers to capture climate
and biodiversity in the Borough of Havant.
With more than 300 entries being received the
project - delivered in partnership with The
Spring - encouraged residents and visitors to
submit their photos of the amazing nature and
landscapes that we have in and around the
borough.
The best and most powerful photos were then
shortlisted by a panel of judges within the five
categories:
Every entry received in a special under 25’s
category will also be displayed as part of a
free-to-see exhibition.
All participants were invited to a private
viewing to celebrate their submissions and to
hear the
winning entry for
each category.
The shortlisted photographs will now be on
display in The Spring foyer area until Monday 19
May and can be viewed as part of a free
exhibition.
Cabinet Lead for
Environment and Water Quality at Havant Borough
Council, Councillor Grainne Rason,
said: “We are lucky to have such amazing nature
and wildlife to celebrate. Our shortlisted
selection of photos captures the beauty of the
borough’s flora, fauna and landscapes superbly.
I am delighted with the high quality and range
of photographs that we received and want to
thank everyone for their submissions, as well as
thanking The Spring for their close support on
this project.
“We now encourage everyone visit the wonderful
exhibition at The Spring to see the photos on
display. We will continue to work with our
partners, our residents and our communities to
deliver the actions set out within our Climate
Change and Biodiversity Strategies, which seek
to protect, conserve and enhance our local
environment”.
Laura Woodward, Co-CEO & Creative Director of
The Spring, added “We have thoroughly enjoyed
partnering with Havant Borough Council on this
photography project. We have learnt a lot from
each other and are proud of what has been
achieved together.
“The perspectives shared and the creativity
shown from everyone involved, especially all
those who submitted images has been truly
inspiring. Seeing our local area through the
creative lens of the community is vital and very
special, and we are delighted to be hosting the
final exhibition - a moment of reflection and
celebration of our local area and the beauty it
holds, whilst provoking thought and discussion
around the impact of climate change.”
The Climate Change and Biodiversity Strategy was
approved by Cabinet in December 2024. For more
