Emsworth Community Centre 7:30 pm - 9:00 pm An Emsworth Maritime and Historical Trust Talk  Presented by Sarah Stanfield Lewis Carroll was a paradigm shifter in Victorian Children’s literature, who excited the imaginations of his young readers, and none more so than one Pelham Greville Wodehouse.   Unexpected links between the two authors began to emerge on close examination of their lives and literary output. Friday 29th March – Sunday 19th May  An Emsworth Maritime & Historical Trust Exhibition – Brook Meadow  by Colin Brotherston The first exhibition in the David  Rudkin Room for 2024 describes local nature reserve and haven for  wildlife near Emsworth town centre.

Saturday March 30th - Monday April 1st   Emsworth Art Group Annual Exhibition.  !0.00 am to 4.30 pm each day. In the Emsworth Community Centre.   This annual exhibition is always popular with visitors. Free entry. Light refreshments available. A wide and varied selection of paintings, most of which are for sale, and cards of paintings are always popular. Emsworth Art Group meet every Wednesday morning in the Community Centre.

A Science Discovery Group Talk by Dr Mark Chapman Associate Professor, University of Southampton. 7.30 pm at the Community Centre We rely on a surprisingly narrow amount of genetic diversity (both in terms of the range of crops, and the varieties of each) for our food. I will discuss how our understanding of evolutionary processes more generally can lead to conclusions (or at least hypotheses!) about why this is. I will also discuss our growing understanding of so-called ‘underutilised’ or ‘forgotten’ crops.

Friday 24th May Saving Space for Local Wildlife A Greening Westbourne talk 7.30pm \at the Meeting Place North Street Westbourne Wildlife is threatened by development, intensive farming, pollution and climate change. That’s why we need “wildlife corridors” – vital areas of habitat that link the South Downs National Park with the Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty at the coast broadly follows the lower part of the River Ems. . Our local corridor. Westbourne wildlife expert Sarah Hughes, who has extensive experience of working with Chichester District Council and the Arun and Rother Rivers Trust, will be our special guest speaker.

 Saturday 6th July – Monday 26th August An Emsworth Maritime & Historical Trust Exhibition – 80th Anniversary of D-Day une 6th, 2024, will see the 80th anniversary of D-Day, the allied landing on the Normandy beaches. The Museum will be commemorating the event with an exhibition reflecting the lead up to D-Day and the impact on the local area and people connected to Emsworth.

Friday 12th - Sunday14th July GUARDIANS OF THE EARTH FLOWER FESTIVAL 10:30 - 18:00 every day at St Mary's Church Cot Lane , Chidham. Refreshments available & Childrens' quiz with Prizes In Aid of St Mary's Church development.  The 12th Century Church of St. Mary's is currently fundraising to enhance the development of this historic structure. The planned improvements include the addition of essential amenities such as toilet facilities and a kitchenette, with the overarching goal of transforming he church into an inclusive hub for the local community.
