St George's Day in Emsworth


 Emsworth will celebrate St. George’s Day on Tuesday 23rd April 2019. this year the men and women of 16 Regiment Royal Artillery will parade through Emsworth.


The parade starts at 10.30 a.m. with Veterans from various conflicts going back more than 60 years marching with 16 Regiment Royal Artillery through Emsworth accompanied by a band. Children from Thorney Island and Emsworth Primary School also accompany the Parade.


It is held in St Peters’ Square in front of the Mayor of Havant, Cllr Peter Wade and the Commanding Officer from the 16 Regiment Royal Artillery, Thorney Island. The street collection will be behalf of SSAFA.

Some roads will be closed in the central area on the morning of 23 April. These are High Street (town roundabout) and Queen Street at the junction with the A259. Buses travelling west will use the bypass during this time and stop west of the town roundabout. Bridgefoot Path will remain open for access.

St George's Day has become a regular fixture in the town's calendar. Organised by the Emsworth Business Association the celebrations include a parade by the men and women of the Royal Artillery Regiments based on Thorney Island.  In recent years over 2,000 has been raised for service related charities.




 Please note:

Roads in Central Emsworth will be closed to motor traffic between 08.00 and 12.00 to allow the parade to take place in safety.
