Emsworth PO10 7DD  In the early morning of Thursday 19th April 1956 Commander Lionel "Buster" Crabb dived into Portsmouth Harbour on a secret MI6 mission to investigate the hull of a visiting Russian cruiser against the express directions of the Prime Minister. He did not return. The bungled official cover -up fuelled an outbreak of conspiracy theories. The initial embargo on the truth was extended for a further 50 years in 1976. Wednesday 23rd March The Hayling Island Ringed Plover Project - An illustrated online talk at 7.30pm by Trevor Codlin about a survey of Ringed Plovers on Hayling Island and the eastern Solent. Trevor will cover how the birds are being helped to continue breeding successfully and talk about how the public can support the project.

Access to the event is by donation at the time of booking with all proceeds supporting the work of Hampshire and Isle of Wight Wildlife Trust. Suggested donation £4pp.

A Unique 500 Year Story - an illustrated talk by Glenn Dunaway of the Mary Rose Trust at Emsworth Community Centre 7 30pm (doors open at 7pm) Glenn Dunaway from the Mary Rose Trust, a marine archaeologist who from 1975 to 1980 was one of the team who dived on the Mary Rose wreck.
