What's happening in Emsworth?

From Monday 12th April England will take Step Two of the roadmap out of the current lockdown:


1.     non-essential retail will be able to reopen

2.     personal care premises such as hairdressers and nail salons will be able to reopen

3.     public buildings such as libraries and community centres will be able to reopen

4.     outdoor hospitality venues will be able to reopen, with table service only

5.     most outdoor attractions including zoos, theme parks, and drive-in performances (such as cinemas and concerts) will be able to reopen

6.     some smaller outdoor events such as fetes, literary fairs, and fairgrounds will be able to take place

7.     indoor leisure and sports facilities will be able to reopen for individual exercise, or exercise with your household or support bubble

8.     all childcare and supervised activities will be allowed indoors (as well as outdoors) for all children. Parent and child groups can take place indoors (as well as outdoors) for up to 15 people (children under 5 will not be counted in this number)

9.     weddings, civil partnership ceremonies, wakes and other commemorative events will be able to take place for up to 15 people (anyone working is not included in this limit), including in indoor venues that are permitted to open or where an exemption applies. Wedding receptions can also take place for up to 15 people, but must take place outdoors, not including private gardens

10. self-contained accommodation will be able to open for overnight stays in England with your household or support bubble

11. you should continue to minimise the amount that you travel where possible

12. care home residents will be able to nominate two named individuals for regular indoor visits (following a rapid lateral flow test)

In Emsworth:

The Emsworth Community Centre is planning to Re-Open on Monday 19th April for activities allowed under the Step 2 Covid Roadmap subject to the latest government guidelines. This will mainly be for Children’s Activities and Parent and Child Groups.

Emsworth Library In line with the Government’s COVID-19 roadmap, all Hampshire Libraries are re-opening for browsing from Monday 12 April

The COVID vaccination program in Emsworth
A large team of NHS staff and at least 30 volunteers helped more than 600 people a day, aged 70+, to receive their first jab in Emsworth.

Free parking for vaccinations in Havant borough

Residents who are asked to visit the vaccination centre in Emsworth, to get their coronavirus vaccine will be able to park for free for the duration of their appointment thanks to Havant Borough Council.  if you are getting your jab or taking a member of your support bubble are: Palmers Road, Emsworth
Anyone else using these car parks should pay as normal.

Church Services, Events & Activities during the Pandemic Constraints.

Church of England

We have moved all our services online, although St.Thomas a Becket Church will still be open for personal prayer on Wednesdays from 10.30am to 3.30pm and on Sundays from 12.30pm to 3.30pm

Church Services Online

We will have two on line worship services each Sunday that you can access

1. A recorded service which can be accessed via our website - click here and also via the St. James Facebook page in the normal way.

2. A live Sunday Zoom service at 10.00am for which we will send out a link in the Parish emails. Contact us at parishofficewwe@gmail.com or 07579 798010 if you wish to join this. This allows us to have a greater sense of 'being together' as we worship.

The church is open for Private Prayer on Wednesdays between 10:30 and 11:30.

St Joseph's Church in Havant

Mass will be celebrated on Sundays at 10.30 am.
Private Prayer - Every day except Tuesday, 9.00 am to 4.00 pm in the Church from December 13th onwards.

Emsworth Alliance: Several business led by Ben Laycock of Emsworth Delicatessen and Anna Tonkin, Oyster Design, had  set up an ordering system and deliveries for local shops, Emsworth Alliance, They also deliver "Home essentials packs" which include eggs, milk, bread, cheese, butter, veg, and  meat.

 Harbour Records operating a click and collect & delivery service. The shop will be open Tues - Thurs between 10 & 1 for collections. We have gift vouchers , music puzzles, new & used vinyl.

Using and visiting Hampshire libraries

All Hampshire Libraries are closed for browsing. You can borrow and reserve physical items from all libraries by using the Ready Reads service or reserving online.

Toilets Toilet facilities are currently closed to the public.

Computers are free of charge to use for all library card holders. To secure a session, you must book in advance by calling 01962 454747. Pre-booked sessions are available in all our branches. In line with Government guidance, it is mandatory for visitors to wear a face covering when you visit our libraries.

Havant Borough Council The council offices are closed but staff are on duty to answer telephone enquiries (023 9244 6019)  and council service updates can be found online HERE.

Our local MP, Alan Mak
, is compiling a list of local residents who would be willing to support isolated and vulnerable members of the community. Click here to complete the volunteer sign-up form. Alan is also working to provide advice and help for households self isolating an with local businesses to deliver essential goods to vulnerable residents.
